Storyline

We move forward, unerringly knotted
in the secureness of larger patterns.
But because of that, we are much more likely to fall
once triggered
and only re-gathered by dreams on a storyline.

We‘d like to thank Anna Zesiger once again for her wonderful contribution to The Napkin Poetry Review. Stay tuned for further collaborations with some amazing photo artists as part of our inaugural issue.

This is the final poetic interpretation of our pre-launch series, and we look forward to developing this project further, meeting powerful artists and poets along the way who can help us to offer novel entryways into poetry, contributing to an interdisciplinary exchange about storytelling, science, and understandings through art.

The Editors: This poem captures cognitive dissonance: in safety, we are least at ease. Though both science and literature say nature is fluid, we are still surprised each time things change. However, this poem also points to the fact that, since everyone moves in instability, we can look to others’ stories to understand our places once more.
